WHAT WE DO So far H2O has:-
- Established the foundations from a business perspective
- Employed two Christian Youth Workers
- Secured the use of 2 substantial buildings in strategic locations
- Held exciting events in Oban including Celtic Praise, Fishy Music, visit from Scottish Rocks and Overnight Lockin
- Established inter-agency work and links with a wide range of local and national organisations
- Produced regular prayer letters and has put good communication links in place
- Has developed various training events and more are being prepared
- Received excellent support locally
Inter-agency work:
- Meaningful networking has taken place both locally and nationally with many youth and voluntary organisations
- Oban area - Oban High School, Glencruitten Hostel, Community Support, Community Education, Community Police, Fusions, Oban Youth Café, Social Work, Atlantis Leisure, Stramash and ten local primary schools.
- National - Frontier Youth Trust, Youth for Christ, Centre for Youth Ministry
- Churches with links to H2O include - Associated Presbyterian Church, Baptist Church, Church of Scotland, Congregational Church, Episcopal Church, Free High Church, Lorn Christian Fellowship, Roman Catholic Church, and Salvation Army
- Our Youth Workers attend camps run by SSC at Struan Perthshire as well as follow up reunions. This is profitable in building up relationship with over 200 campers drawn from around Scotland. It has also proved invaluable locally in developing relationships with many of the 80 or so campers from the Oban area
Prayer:
- Prayer is foundational to the work of H2O. A Prayer and Share supper is held on the first Sunday of each month in The Well at 8pm. Also a monthly prayer letter - The Source is available electronically and in hard copy and provides useful pointers about the work of H2O for prayer and thanks.
Training:
- Various training initiatives have taken place for both volunteers and workers including a programme produced by the Christian organisation Frontier Youth Trust (FYT) and called "Mission and Young People at Risk." It explores aspects of Community, Communication, Mission, and Group work
- H2O also delivers relevant training to other youthwork organisations.
