Hope 2 Oban

What We Do:

A simple aim maybe but it requires skill, enthusiasm, and a willingness to make a difference from a whole team of people and organisations working together.

  • Firstly the H2O youth workers are currently Ewen Munro and Denise Glancy.  The Directors are very thankful for the H2O team that continues to deliver above and beyond expectations and which has earned the respect of young people and professionals alike.
  • The local churches and church members who actively support H2O through financial contributions, helping as volunteers and very importantly through prayer.
  • Partnership working is very important – having the support of Oban High School is crucial.  We continue to develop programmes and activities with Stramash, Atlantis Leisure, Community Police, Craig Lodge, SSC, Oban Youth Café, the Community Support team and Kilbowie Outdoor Centre.
  • Partnerships with funding bodies is essential and we are very thankful for the continued support of the Rank Organisation, Laidlaw Youth Trust, Parish Development Fund, Youthlink, Argyll & Bute Council, Robertson Trust and first time funders Waterside Trust

H2O moving ahead on several fronts.

  • Denise GlancyWe welcomed Denise Glancy, youth worker, to the team. Denise is heading up our new Club H2O initiative which brings 3 generations together - senior citizens, OHS pupils and church members for friendship, fellowship, tea and cake, weekly at The Well.  We are very grateful for the support of Care Homes, OHS staff & Pupils, Rotary Club and all the church volunteers without whom this very worthwhile initiative would not be possible.
  • Partnership working with Westward Quest, a Christian charity based at Balvicar that provides sail training and team development opportunities for young people and adults.
  • Developing our relationship with Craig Lodge Community at Dalmally which through their excellent team is bringing an added dimension to youth work within the High School.

Our Christian faith encourages us to continue to develop the work of H2O in meeting the needs of our young people and encourage them towards fulfilling their potential.

We hope that in reading this report you will agree that we are addressing our primary aim to serve young people in innovative and dynamic ways.”
