Education Supporter of the Year Award

Education Supporter of the Year AwardIn March 2007, the H2O's Ewen Munro and Tom Sunderland, were nominated by Oban High School for the "Education Supporter of the Year" category of the Scottish Education Awards. Encouragingly, the H2O team were in the final three of the award, receiving appropriate certification along with £500 being awarded to Oban High School towards the work of H2O. It was decided that the prize money should not be used towards a one-off activity, but should certainly be directed towards young people. The concept of the H2O Award was agreed between Oban High School and the Directors and youth workers of H2O. The vision is that this will be awarded annually to young people who have demonstrated that they care about others from within their community. In other words, they would be an individual or group who were prepared to selflessly serve others. The awards will be given further to nominations from young people.

"Ewen Munro and Tom Sunderland have been nominated because of their highly original, innovative and successful events such as their Religious Observance conferences, Scottish Rocks team building workshops and summer camps. Their impact on the young people has been substantial and the youngsters have developed values and been deflected from making poor choices through the Hope 2 Oban work."
